Ovid on Real and Implied

My morals, believe me, are quite distinct from my verse
a respectable life style, a flirtatious muse
and the larger part of my writings is mendacious, fictive,
assumes the license the author denies himself.
A book is no index of character, but, a harmless, pleasure,
will offer much matter to delight the ear.
